ABOUT THE DRAMA SCHOOL

The Niagara Falls School of Drama was established in 1993. The school is owned and operated by Colin & Lori Scears.  They have been teaching acting skills to youth for 20 years.  They share a spacious facility with the new Niagara Dance Academy near the Stamford Centre area making them the region’s first combined arts centre. There are three large classrooms which make a perfect atmosphere for their students to work and learn.

Since they have been teaching drama many of their students have moved on to pursue acting careers through post-secondary education.  Students have been accepted to such theatre programs as Humber, Sheridan, York, George Brown, Ryerson, Fanshawe, Niagara College and Brock University.  While still attending the drama school acting students have worked with the professional company at Shaw Festival Theatre playing roles in ‘The Children’s Hour’, ‘All My Sons’, ‘The Man Who Came To Dinner’, 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof', 'My Fair Lady', 'Ragtime' and " A Man and Some Women' to name a few.

They have done much work in the community teaching workshops at various public schools, YMCA in Niagara Falls, St. Catharines & Grimsby, the Early Years Childhood Education Centre (where they taught teachers how to teach drama) and various local church and community groups. They also taught a semester at Montessori School.

The instructors, Colin & Lori Scears, have been involved on stage and behind the scenes with the Firehall Theatre (formerly the Niagara Falls Music Theatre Society), Rainbow Productions, Port Colborne Operatic Society, Garden City Productions and Studio Seven Theatre in Toronto where Colin trained with professional actors.

Colin was also a co-founder of the very successful Thorold Community Theatre.  Lori has worked professionally as a singer/musical theatre performer and also trained privately in New York State.  Together they formed ‘The Victorian Carollers’, a professional vocal group, performing at Niagara Square, Pen Centre, Seaway Mall, The Winter Festival of Lights, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Candelight Stroll as well as many private functions.

They taught Summer Drama Day Camps at the The Town of Lincoln and the Town of Pelham.
